What is pallet racking? +

Pallet racking is used in warehouses to organize palletized goods, boxes and cartons, and bulky and oversized items. Designed to maximize vertical space, this solution increases available floor space for other operations.

These racks are accessible by forklifts and hold multiple pallets or skids on each shelf so you can store more goods in your warehouse, and just as importantly, keep them organized in a way that helps your team find the SKUs they need, when they need them.

How does pallet racking work? +

Each pallet rack consists of vertical metal frames called uprights and horizontal beams. The beams sit between each upright to create multiple levels of shelving and are adjustable to accommodate different sizes of pallets or loads. Forklifts are used to place pallets of products on the shelves, making it easier to organize and retrieve items.

Does pallet racking need to be bolted to the floor? +

Manufacturers recommend that pallet racking be bolted to the floor when used in a warehouse. This helps prevent damage to the racks, reduce the risk of workplace injuries, and minimize inventory loss and operational downtime.
